GritHero is a sports and learning app designed for children and their families. We try to collect as little personal data as possible and to keep parent controls in adult hands.

What data we may collect

Depending on how the app is used, we may process:

• a child-safe nickname and technical account identifier;
• a parent email address if a parent chooses to connect the account;
• login and account security information, such as password hashes and verification status;
• training progress, quiz progress, rewards, and in-app profile settings;
• push notification token, if notifications are enabled on the device;
• physical activity or motion-related data when a training mechanic needs device sensors;
• device and app integrity information needed to keep the service secure.

Why we use this data

We use data to:

• create and maintain the player profile;
• save progress between sessions and devices;
• let a parent recover or protect an account;
• power training mechanics that rely on motion permissions;
• send important account or product notifications;
• protect the app, prevent abuse, and review safety reports.

Children and parent email

The child-facing experience is designed to start without requiring a child's real name or email address. If a family wants account recovery or cross-device access, we ask for a parent email address, not the child's email address.

Parent-only actions should be completed by a parent or legal guardian.

Social and safety features

If social features are enabled, the app may process friend requests, public profile visibility settings, blocks, and abuse reports. We use this information to moderate player interactions and help keep the experience safe.

Permissions

The app may request certain permissions only when a feature needs them:

• Notifications to send reminders or account-related messages.
• Motion / physical activity to support exercise mechanics.

If a permission is denied, related features may be limited until it is enabled again.

How long we keep data

We keep account and progress data for as long as needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce safety rules. Unverified or temporary account states may be cleaned up according to our retention rules.

Account deletion

Parents or account holders can request account deletion from inside the app. When an account is deleted, we remove or anonymize related data unless we must keep certain records for security, legal, or abuse-prevention reasons.

Sharing

We do not sell children's personal data. We may share limited data with service providers that help us run the app, such as hosting, email delivery, and notification infrastructure, but only when needed to operate GritHero securely.

International use

Your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect the data used by GritHero.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
